Senenin bu döneminde Akdeniz ve Antalya bir hayli sıcak ve kalabalık oluyor. Ama rotamız o yöne çevrilince karavanımızla düştük yollara. Minik buzdolabına biraz kahvaltılık, içecek, su, ekmeğimiz de varsa tamamdır işte… Antalya merkez fazla kalabalık. Konyaaltı Plajı da karavancılar için eskisi kadar uygun değil. Sakin halk plajları aramak için civardaki yerleri biraz dolaştık. Eş dosta sorma, biraz internet bilgisi, biraz önceki deneyimler derken; uygun sahillerin kıyısında, ağaç altlarında konakladık, denize girdik ve tabii  “ören yerlerini” gezdik.

SİDE ANTİK KENTİ

Antik kentler içinde Side Antik Kenti en sevdiğim yerlerden.

Deniz, güneş, kum, doğa ve tarihin hepsini bulabileceğiniz belde Side…

Antalya’nın 80 km doğusunda bir yarımada burası.

M.Ö. 7. Yüzyılda Lidya krallığının egemenliğine girmiş, Lidya Krallığı  yıkılınca Perslerin hakimiyetine girmiş.

İskender’in kurduğu büyük sikke basım merkezlerinden olmuş.

Daha sonra Helenistik dönem krallıkları arasında sürekli el değiştirmiş.

Doğu Pamfilya Metropolitliği’nin başkenti.

Ticaret ve Liman Kenti Side

Side Antik Kenti kalıntıları üzerinde 20. Yüzyıl başlarında Giritli göçmenler tarafından Selimiye Köyü kurulmuş.

Yunan, Lidya, Pers, Büyük İskender, Bergama Krallığı, Roma, Bizans dönemlerinin yapı özelliklerini bugüne kadar taşımış.

Temiz kumu, sahili,  Antik Tiyatrosu, Apollon Tapınağı, tarihi kalıntıları, büyük görkemli kent kapısı, hamamları, agorası, eski evleri ve müzesi ile tarihi ve doğayı dolu dolu yaşayıp hissedeceğiniz bir belde…

Side Antik Kenti’ni iki günde gezmek mümkün

Önemli bir liman kenti

Hesychiup sözlüğünde buradan “Narlar Kenti” olarak bahseder.

Bölgede gezerken incir ağaçlarına da rastladık.

Tarihi yapılar arasında yeşillikler, ağaçlar gölgelik ve ferahlık veriyor yaz sıcağında…

Side Antik Tiyatrosu

Bu karavan gezimizin haricinde Side’ye iki sefer daha gelmiştim.

O zamanlar da en çok “antik tiyatrosu”na hayran kalmıştım.

Bir akşamüstü Side Antik Kenti Tiyatrosu’nun basamaklarında otururken kendimi yine düşler ülkesinde gibi hissettim.

Tiyatronun taşlarına akşam günü tek tek dokunup ışığını bırakıyordu.

Ne zaman gelsem bu tarihin sessizliğinde bir süre kalmak istiyorum.

Sahnenin üstünde, ardında yapılmış kabartmaları, heykelleri, süslemeleri incelemek.

Taşlara dokunmak.

Geçmişin sesine kulak vermek…

M.S. 11 yüzyılda yapılan 17 bin kişilik bu görkemli tiyatroda kim bilir ne oyunlar sergilendi, ne toplantılar, ayinler yapıldı.

Nice aşklara, sevdalara sahne oldu bu yapı.

Kimler geldi, kimler geçti bu basamaklardan.

Biraz kalıp düşlemeyi seviyorum.

Geçmişin ayak seslerini, ruh esintilerin dinlemeyi…

Side’de kaldığımız ikinci günün sabahında çocuklar Side Su Altı Müzesi’nde dalmak istediklerini söylediler.

 

Burası Türkiye’nin ilk su altı müzesi…

İlgili yerlerle görüştükten sonra, görevliler çocukları servisle,  konakladığımız yerden alıp, dalış noktasına götürdüler.

Limanın hemen yakınındaki müzeye ilgi bir hayli fazla.

Uzman hoca dalgıçlarla çocuklar su altına dalıp, orada tarihi eserler arasında eşsiz bir deneyim yaşadılar.

Çıkınca anlata anlata bitiremediler.

Sabahtan öğleye devam eden bu maceranın ardından hep beraber Apollon Tapınağı’nı gezdik.

Apollon Tapınağı

Side’de denize hakim bir tepenin üzerinde tarihi kalıntıların arasında yürürken bir anda önümüze tüm görkemiyle çıkıyor Apollon Tapınağı…

Bazı sütunları bazilika yapımında kullanılıp sökülse de kalan kısmı bile etkileyici.

Sütunların üzerindeki kabartmalar göz alıcı…

Roma Barışı döneminde inşa edilen iki tapınaktan biri.

Adını ışık, güzellik ve sanat tanrısı Apollon’dan almış.

Tapınak kalıntıları ile Side yerleşim yeri iç içe geçmiş. Bir yandan tarihi izlerken, diğer yandan evlerin arasındaki sokaklarda geziniyorsunuz, dükkânlardan alışveriş yapıyorsunuz.

Hemen aşağıda uzanan tertemiz incecik kumlu sahilinde  güneşlenip,  denize girebiliyorsunuz.

Side Müzesi

Türkiye’de bir köyde açılan ilk müze Side Müzesi…

Antik Kent içindeki Side Müzesi’ne giriş ücretli.

Müze Kartınızın olması avantajlı oluyor.

Roma dönemine ait agoranın karşısındaki antik hamam restore edilerek müzeye dönüştürülmüş.

Burada, Helenistik, Roma ve Bizans dönemlerine ait kazılardan çıkan eserler sergileniyor:

Heykeller, kabartmalı lahitler, mezar stelleri, yazıtlar, sunaklar, amforalar, sütun başlıkları ve özellikle sikkeler.

Biz müzeden çıktığımızda akşam olmak üzereydi. Bahçesindeki ağaçların altında biraz soluklandık.

Bahçenin güzelliği tavus kuşunu sevdik. Tüylerini açıp kapamasını, görkemli renklerini izledik.

Sonra denize karşı nefis bir gün batımının eşliğinde antik yoldan yürüyerek karavanımıza ulaştık.

Nar diyarı Side’den biriktirdiğimiz bolca tarih, doğa gezi anısıyla ayrıldık.

MY CARAVAN ARTICLES: ANTALYA ANCIENT CITY OF SIDE

At this time of the year, the Mediterranean and Antalya are very hot and crowded.

But when our route was turned in that direction, we hit the road with our caravan anyways.

If we have some breakfast, drinks, water and bread in the little fridge, it’s bearable…

 

Antalya center is too crowded. Konyaaltı Beach is not as suitable for caravans as it used to be.

We wandered around a bit in search of quiet public beaches.

 

By asking a friend, using some internet knowledge, and some previous experiences; We stayed under trees on the shores of suitable beaches, went to the sea, and of course visited the “archaeological sites”.

 

ANCIENT CITY OF SIDE

Among the ancient cities, Side Antique City is one of my favorite places.

Side, where you can find all the sea, sun, sand, nature and history…

 

This is a peninsula 80 km east of Antalya.

It came under the rule of the Lydian kingdom in the 7th century B.C., and when the Lydian Kingdom collapsed, it came under the domination of the Persians.

It became one of the great coin printing centers established by Alexander.

Afterwards, it constantly changed hands between the kingdoms of the Hellenistic period.

Capital of the Eastern Pamphylia Metropolitan.

 

Commerce and Port City Side

Selimiye Village was founded on the ruins of the Ancient City of Side by the Cretan immigrants at the beginning of the 20th century.

It has carried the structural features of the Greek, Lydian, Persian, Alexander the Great, Pergamon Kingdom, Roman and Byzantine periods until today.

A town where you can live and feel history and nature to the fullest with its clean sand, beach, Ancient Theatre, Temple of Apollo, historical ruins, great magnificent city gate, baths, agora, old houses and museum…

It is possible to visit Side Antique City in two days.

An important port city

The Hesychiup dictionary refers to it as the “City of Pomegranates”.

We came across fig trees while walking around the area.

Among the historical buildings, greenery, trees provide shade and comfort in the summer heat…

 

Side Antique Theater

Apart from this caravan trip, I came to Side two more times before.

At that time, I was most fascinated by the “ancient theatre”.

Sitting on the steps of Side Antique City Theater one evening, I felt like I was in a dreamland again.

 

Evening light touched the stones of the theater one by one.

Whenever I come, I want to stay in the silence of this history for a while.

To examine the reliefs, sculptures and decorations made above and behind the stage.

Who knows how many meetings or rituals were held in this magnificent theater with a capacity of 17 thousand people, built in the 11th century A.C.

This building has been the scene of many loves and affections.

Who came, who passed these steps.

I like to stay and dream a bit.

Listening to the footsteps of the past, the breezes of the soul…

On the morning of the second day we stayed in Side, the children said they wanted to dive in the Side Underwater Museum.

 

This is Turkey’s first underwater museum…

 

After meeting with the relevant places, the officers took the children to the diving point by shuttle, from where we were staying.

There is a lot of interest in the museum, which is right next to the port.

Children dove underwater with expert instructor divers and had a unique experience among historical artifacts there.

They couldn’t get enough of it.

After this adventure, which continued from morning to noon, we visited the Temple of Apollo together.

 

Apollon temple

While walking among the historical ruins on a hill overlooking the sea in Side, the Temple of Apollo appears in all its glory…

 

Although some of its columns were used in the construction of the basilica and dismantled, even the rest is impressive.

The reliefs on the columns are eye-catching…

One of the two temples built during the Roman Peace period.

It was named after Apollo, the god of light, beauty and art.

The ruins of the temple and the settlement of Side are intertwined. While watching the history on the one hand, you wander the streets between the houses and shop from the shops on the other.

You can sunbathe and swim on the clean, fine sandy beach just below.

Side Museum

Side Museum, the first museum opened in a village in Turkey…

There is an entrance fee to the Side Museum in the Ancient City.

Having a Museum Card is advantageous.

The ancient bath opposite the Roman agora was restored and turned into a museum.

Artifacts from excavations from the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods are exhibited here:

Statues, relief sarcophagi, funerary stelae, inscriptions, altars, amphorae, column capitals and especially coins.

It was almost evening when we left the museum. We took a rest under the trees in the garden.

We loved the peacock, the beauty of the garden. We watched it open and close its feathers, its magnificent colors.

Then we reached our caravan by walking the ancient road accompanied by a beautiful sunset against the sea.

We left Side, the land of pomegranates, with lots of history and nature trip memories.

If you have a chance, you should definitely visit this beautiful town.
